WIP:
advocating
equitable
mindfulness
I became interested in teaching meditation when I discovered that many people perceive meditation as something that is only available to those who have abundant time and financial resources for things like retreats and expensive candles.
I advocate making mindfulness practices like meditation accessible to all, regardless of factors like age, gender, ethnic origin, income level, location, ability. I host events designed to help people discover equitable mindfulness practices underpinned by a "meditative making/doing" approach.
I've observed that meditative making/doing can encourage people to look beyond traditional meditation and discover ways of learning/practicing mindfulness that are better aligned with personal needs and preferences.
reflections
I shared my learnings about using meditation as an unproductive form of escapism on the the SBS Insight program. Watch episode here.
I shared some tips for creating a meditative space on the Meditation Association of Australia blog. Read article here.
I experimented with teaching mindfulness in different ways through Anti-Mindfulness Mindfulness Club and Mindful Makers and Doers Club. Learn more about the key concepts the projects here.

WIP:
exploring cultural identity as a form of mindfulness
I'm currently navigating a scary/exciting professional and personal identity crisis. I've becoming increasingly curious about my cultural identity as a Filipina and I've been exploring making/doing practices with roots in my cultural heritage.
I was born in the Philippines and grew up in the eastern suburbs of Sydney. Throughout my childhood, I spent many summer holidays travelling around the Philippines, however, I've had limited exposure to Filipino culture in the context of day-to-day life.
I'm currently seeking opportunities to learn about my cultural identity though meditative making/doing. Please reach out via the form below if you have ideas/suggestions or are on a similar journey and would like to connect.
